The 10 Francs Ra is part of Burundi's ongoing series of large-format gold foil issues produced for the collector market — a program that has nothing to do with the country's actual monetary system and everything to do with licensing arrangements between the issuing authority and European coin marketing firms. Burundi's franc has been largely dollarized in practice since the mid-2000s, and coins of this type have never circulated.
Ra, the Egyptian solar deity, has no cultural connection to Burundi whatsoever.
