| Obverse description | Left-facing laureate bust of Marianne, the allegorical personification of the French Republic, wearing an olive wreath adorned with berries and draped with flowing hair rendered in fine relief. The portrait is executed in the elegant Art Deco style characteristic of engraver Pierre Turin. The circumferential legend reads REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE, flanking the bust on either side, while the engraver's signature P. TURIN appears in small capitals at the base of the truncation. The design is framed by a finely dentilated inner border. |
