The Banque Centrale du Congo has issued a long-running series of themed collector coins under licensing arrangements common among small-economy central banks that generate hard currency through numismatic exports rather than domestic circulation. These pieces are struck by third-party mints — most frequently in Europe — and are never intended to circulate within the DRC itself.
