Additional information

The Lagriffoul 10 Francs series takes its name from Henri Lagriffoul, the Monnaie de Paris engraver whose work defined much of mid-twentieth-century French commemorative coinage. This 2000 issue arrived in the franc's final years — France had already committed to the euro, with franc-denominated coinage effectively ending circulation use by 2002.

Collector pieces like this were sold directly through the Monnaie de Paris at issue price, meaning most examples never touched a cash register.
