In the center, the winged Genius of Liberty holding a torch in his right hand. On either side are the letters `R` and `F` for République française. The periphery is made up of a series of striated geometric motifs. Underneath the letter `R` is the different name of the Atelier de Gravure des Monnaies et Médailles (AGMM). The July Column was erected on the Place de la Bastille in Paris to commemorate the Three Glorious Years of July 1830. Its top is adorned with a gilded bronze sculpture by Auguste Dumont: the Genius of Liberty.
