Additional information

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has issued an extraordinary volume of novelty collector coinage since the late 1990s, much of it produced by European mints targeting the thematic numismatic market rather than domestic circulation. This piece commemorates the Buick Model C, the two-cylinder runabout produced from 1905 to 1908 that established Buick as a commercially viable marque — and, by extension, provided the foundation capital for William Durant to assemble General Motors in 1908.

No meaningful connection exists between the DRC and Buick's history. The legal tender status is nominal.
