Obverse description Central field features the name and titles of Ahmad Pasha Bey in Arabic script arranged in three horizontal lines, enclosed within an ornate geometric cartouche with interlaced border decoration characteristic of Islamic artistic tradition. Flanking the cartouche on either side are two upright olive branches, their stems meeting at the base. The Hijri date 1353 appears in Eastern Arabic numerals in the lower portion of the field, below the cartouche. The entire composition is contained within a beaded inner border and a plain outer rim. The design is purely epigraphic, with no portrait, reflecting the conventions of Tunisian Regency coinage under the French Protectorate.
