| Obverse description | Central field features a rectangular cartouche with rounded corners, bearing multi-line Arabic inscriptions identifying the regent Ahmad Bey of Tunisia along with the denomination of 10 Francs and the Hijri date. Flanking the cartouche on either side are tall, stylized wheat or palm frond sprigs in high relief, lending an ornamental, art-deco character to the design. The entire composition is enclosed within a beaded inner border and a toothed outer rim. The layout is aniconic, consistent with Islamic artistic tradition, relying solely on calligraphic and botanical decorative elements. |
