| Obverse description | Central device depicts a vanilla plant (Vanilla planifolia) rendered in fine relief, showing characteristic elongated seed pods, twining vine stem, and flowering blossom, emblematic of Madagascar's principal agricultural export. The legend FAMOAHAMBOLAN' NY REPOBLIKA MALAGASY arcs along the upper periphery in Latin capitals, while the date appears at the base of the design between two small ornamental stops.
