Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Marianne, allegorical personification of the French Republic, facing right, rendered in the Art Deco style by engraver Pierre Turin. Her hair is elaborately waved beneath an olive wreath, with a prominent branch extending behind the head toward the upper left field. The engraver's signature P.TURIN appears in small capitals at the lower rim. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE runs along the periphery, divided between the left and right sides of the coin, framed by a dentilated border.
