Additional information

The "Rover" in this coin's name refers to the NASA Mars Exploration Rover mission, launched in 2003 — making this a commemorative issue timed to anticipate that program. The Democratic Republic of the Congo has produced an extensive range of thematic collector coins since the late 1990s, most with no domestic circulation intent whatsoever, marketed entirely through European and American numismatic distributors.

The "10 Francs 1906" denomination is fictional for collector purposes; the Congolese franc was only reintroduced in 1998 after years of the zaïre.
