Obverse description The quartered arms of Geneva occupy the central field, depicting on the left half an eagle displayed and on the right half an upright key surmounted by a crown, all rendered in fine relief. Above the shield, the Christogram IHS appears within a radiant sun motif. The circumferential legend reads the Calvinist motto POST TENEBRAS LUX (After Darkness, Light), separated by pellets, with the IHS device integrated at the top of the inscription. A beaded inner border frames the design, and a milled outer border runs along the coin's rim.
