The Democratic Republic of the Congo has issued an extensive series of novelty collector pieces since the late 1990s, many produced by European private mints with no meaningful connection to Congolese monetary history. This dromedary issue falls squarely in that category — a silver-plated copper piece struck for the international thematic collector market, not for domestic circulation.
The DRC's nominal face value on such pieces is essentially a legal fiction required to classify them as coins rather than medals.
