| Obverse description | Central depiction of the Liberty Statue (Szabadság-szobor) monument atop Gellért Hill in Budapest, rendered as a standing female figure with arms raised aloft, holding a palm frond. Radiating lines emanate from the base of the figure, suggesting light or liberation. The circular legend MAGYAR NÉPKÖZTÁRSASÁG (Hungarian People's Republic) runs along the upper periphery, with the mint mark BP. flanked by two stars positioned at the lower field.
