Additional information

Hungary's 1946 coinage reform came at the end of the most severe hyperinflation ever recorded — the pengő had collapsed so completely that the government was issuing banknotes denominated in sextillions. The forint system introduced that August required an entirely new coin series, and trial strikes in various compositions were produced to evaluate striking quality and planchet behavior before production began. This copper piece was not adopted; the circulating 10 fillér was ultimately struck in iron.
