Obverse description Central field features the Chinese character 川 (Szechuan) inscribed within a raised circular border, itself set within a stylized four-lobed quatrefoil ornamental pattern. The quatrefoil design is composed of four rounded petals with incised arc motifs at the junctions, creating an elaborate decorative framework that fills the coin's face. The overall composition is bold and geometric, reflecting a deliberate artistic design characteristic of Republican-era provincial pattern coinage.

Additional information

Szechuan's warlord period produced a chaotic mint record, with provincial authorities issuing and cancelling denominations on short notice as military and political control shifted between factions. This 1926 pattern almost certainly never advanced to circulation — the province's copper coinage program was repeatedly interrupted by the conflicts between Yang Sen, Liu Xiang, and rival commanders jockeying for control of Chengdu.

Pattern status means surviving examples passed through official hands rather than commerce, which explains why KM#Pn26 appears so infrequently at auction.
