| Obverse description | Central field bears four large Chinese characters arranged in a cruciform reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. The surrounding legend consists of additional Chinese ideograms forming a circular border inscription denoting the province of issue, the reign title Guangxu, the denomination Yuanbao, and the weight standard of 7.2 candareens. The overall layout follows the classical Chinese imperial cash-coin format adapted for a milled coinage. |
