| Obverse description | Four Chinese ideograms arranged top to bottom and right to left frame the central field, which bears Manchu script characters. The entire composition is encircled by an outer ring of additional Chinese ideograms forming the full provincial and reign-title legend. The inscription records the issuing province (Fengtien), the Guangxu reign title, and the denomination expressed as 7.2 Candareens weight. The lettering is rendered in crisp relief against a flat field, consistent with pattern-strike production. |

A flaming pearl is positioned at the centre of the dragon's coil. The dragon is surrounded by a circular English-language legend along the upper periphery reading 'FENG-TIEN PROVINCE', with the denomination '7.2 CANDAREENS' along the lower periphery. Small five-pointed stars serve as separators between the legend elements. The entire design is bordered by a continuous beaded rim, characteristic of the milled pattern coinage of the period. |
