Obverse description Central field bears the two large Chinese characters 元寶 (Yuanbao, meaning 'original currency') flanking a Manchu script inscription, with the reign title 光緒 (Guangxu) arranged vertically. The outer legend reads 四川省造 (Made in Szechuan Province) along the upper arc, with the denominational inscription 庫平七分二釐 (Worth 7.2 Candareens, library weight standard) along the lower arc. The design is contained within a beaded inner circle, itself surrounded by the peripheral legend, all executed in crisp relief against a flat field characteristic of a proof-style pattern strike.
