Obverse description The obverse features a multi-panel comic-strip composition inspired by the Belgian graphic novel series XIII by Jean Van Hamme and William Vance. In the upper field, the denomination '10!' and 'EURO' appear within a bold starburst speech-bubble motif, with the monogram 'RF' (République Française) to the right in the field. Below, a wide panel depicts a dramatic action scene with a crashing vehicle and a close-up of a female character's face rendered in the ligne claire style. A lower register presents two additional panels: one showing the chiselled face of the protagonist XIII in three-quarter view, and another portraying a secondary character wearing a cap and speaking on a telephone, with the series logotype 'XIII' inscribed at lower left.
