| Additional information |
Part of the Monnaie de Paris "La Fayette" series commemorating French involvement in the American Revolution, this piece marks the 1778 arrival of French forces as a decisive turning point in the war. Washington and La Fayette's alliance was as much diplomatic as military — France's formal entry forced Britain to redeploy naval resources globally, fundamentally changing the strategic calculus of the conflict.
The series drew modest collector interest at issue but has held secondary market premiums steadily, partly due to low mintage ceilings the Monnaie de Paris imposed across the run.
