Additional information

Austria's nine-province commemorative silver series, running through the 2000s and into the 2010s, assigned each federal state its own dedicated issue. Vorarlberg — the westernmost province, geographically isolated from the rest of Austria by the Arlberg pass and culturally closer to Switzerland and Swabia than to Vienna — was among the last to receive its coin in the sequence.

The .925 standard used here differs from the .800 fineness common to earlier Austrian commemoratives, a specification change the mint introduced to align with collector market expectations after 2008.
