| Reverse description | The reverse features a detailed bust of Jean Parisot de Valette, Grand Master of the Order of Saint John and founder of Valletta, rendered in a Renaissance portrait style facing slightly to the viewer's right. He is depicted wearing a close-fitting coif and armour with a ruffled collar, with the engraver's initials NGB inscribed at the lower left of the bust. A small heraldic shield appears to the right of the bust in the field. The denomination 10 EURO is inscribed to the left of the portrait, and the curved legend VALLETTA · EUROPEAN CAPITAL OF CULTURE · 2018 arcs around the upper periphery, separated from the central design by a fine dotted inner border. |
