| Obverse description | The coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino is displayed prominently in the centre of the field, depicting a crowned escutcheon bearing three towers on a stylised rocky mount, flanked by an olive branch to the left and an oak branch to the right, with a scroll inscribed LIBERTAS below. The circular legend REPUBLICA DI SAN MARINO runs along the periphery. The engraver's signature A.NAPOLIONE appears in the lower field beneath the coat of arms. |

San Marino joined the United Nations in 1992, making it one of the last European microstates to do so — Liechtenstein had joined a year earlier, and the Vatican remains a non-member observer to this day. This issue marks the thirtieth anniversary of that accession, a milestone of genuine diplomatic weight for a republic of fewer than 35,000 citizens that had maintained de facto independence through medieval-era treaties and sheer geographic impracticality.
