| Obverse description | At upper right, the effigy of the French abolitionist statesman Victor Schœlcher is depicted in profile, with his name inscribed in a scroll legend reading VICTOR SCHŒLCHER beside his portrait. At upper left, a dove in flight and broken chains accompany the word ESCLAVAGE (slavery), symbolising the abolition of slavery. At the lower portion of the field, the outline map of the region of Martinique is shown, surmounted by the initials RF for République Française. The regional name MARTINIQUE appears along the scroll inscription. |

| Additional information |
Martinique has never had its own monetary authority — this piece was issued under France's broader "Régions et Départements d'Outre-Mer" collector series, which the Monnaie de Paris launched to mark French overseas territories that use the euro but rarely appear on circulating coinage. The series was aimed squarely at the collector market and saw no circulation whatsoever.
The .500 fineness is deliberately below sterling — a cost-containment choice consistent across the lower-denomination issues in this series.
