The face of Joan of Arc, known as La Pucelle d`Orléans, appears in the upper right-hand corner of the coin. Her first and last name `JEANNE D`ARC` is written vertically beside her face. Three fleurs-de-lis are behind her neck, and a sword is at face level. At top left, a 15th-century painting depicts the siege of Orleans in 1428. At the bottom of the coin is the outline of the Lorraine region, with the letters `RF` for République Française above it. Along the scroll is the name of the region `LORRAINE`.
