| Obverse description | Central to the obverse is Leonardo da Vinci's celebrated self-portrait, rendered in fine relief and enclosed within a geometric frame composed of an intersecting square and circle, evoking the principles of Renaissance proportion. Below the portrait, the artist's hand is depicted in the act of inscribing his signature in his distinctive left-handed mirror script. To the right of the composition appears the name LEONARDO in the field. The engraver's name U. PERNAZZA is inscribed along the lower portion, and the legend REPUBBLICA ITALIANA arcs across the upper field. |
