Additional information

Kaj Franck was the Finnish designer behind the Kilta tableware series — later rebranded Teema — produced by Arabia of Helsinki from 1953 onward. His work rejected ornament entirely in favor of stackable, interchangeable, geometrically pure forms. The Finnish Design Museum has called him the "conscience of Finnish design" for his sustained argument that good objects should be affordable and durable rather than decorative.

This coin was issued to mark the centenary of his birth in 1911.
