Obverse description Central field depicts Robert Schuman seated, reading the text of his historic declaration of 9 May 1950, rendered in a detailed engraved style. In the upper portion of the coin, an interlaced RF monogram appears alongside the face value legend '10 EURO'. Below, within a beaded inner circle surrounded by twelve stars, the inscription '9 Mai' denotes Europe Day. The privy mark of the Monnaie de Paris appears above, and the inscription 'LA JOURNÉE de L'EUROPE' is positioned along the lower periphery.

Reverse description Central portrait of the goddess Europa, her hair adorned with stars, rendered in classical style. To the left of the portrait, a grouping of European national flags on staffs is depicted in low relief. The inscriptions 'EUROPA' and the date '2006' appear in the field, completing the reverse composition.
