Obverse description The obverse features a relief portrait bust of the Spanish Baroque painter José de Ribera, reproduced after a medallion sculpted by Ramón Barba (1767–1831) that adorns the façade of the Museo Nacional del Prado in Madrid. The effigy is rendered in a classical medallic style with fine detail in the drapery and facial features. The legend 'ESPAÑA 2011' appears in the field alongside the artist's surname 'Ribera', identifying the issuing nation and year of issue. The mint mark 'M' for the Royal Mint of Spain is also present on the obverse.
