| Obverse description | Central design features the heraldic shield of the Central Bank of Malta, depicting two armoured knights as supporters flanking a quartered escutcheon surmounted by a mural crown and lion, with the motto scroll reading FIDUCIA FORTIS and the founding year 1968 in the exergue of the shield. The shield is superimposed upon a large eight-pointed Maltese Cross rendered in high relief. The entire composition is set within a riveted circular border evoking a medieval shield or portcullis, with decorative chainmail patterning and armoured elements visible in the outer field. The legend MALTA appears at the top and the date 2022 at the bottom, with the weight and fineness inscription 2 OZ AG 999.9 inscribed vertically along the left inner rim. |
