Obverse description The central field features the official papal coat of arms of Pope Francis, displaying a shield charged with the Christogram IHS within a radiant sun, flanked by a star and a spikenard sprig, surmounted by the papal tiara and the crossed Keys of Saint Peter. A ribboned scroll beneath the shield bears the papal motto MISERANDO ATQUE ELIGENDO in raised Latin lettering. The circular legend around the periphery reads FRANCISCVS PP. ANNO IVBILAEI MISERICORDIAE, with the date MMXVI at the base. The engravers' signatures M. CRISCIOTTI and U. PERNAZZA INC. appear below the scroll in the lower field. The design is executed in a finely detailed, low-relief style with a mirror-polished proof field.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a group of young pilgrims gathered around and raising a large wooden cross, rendered in a dynamic, sculptural composition evoking unity and faith. The figures, shown from various angles with outstretched arms, fill the lower and central portions of the field in high relief against a mirror-polished background. To the upper left, the small mint mark R denotes the Rome Mint. The denomination 10 EURO appears to the right in bold numerals. The legend CITTA DEL VATICANO arcs across the upper periphery, while XXXI GMG CRACOVIA 2016 curves along the lower border, referencing the 31st World Youth Day held in Kraków.
