The stylized German federal eagle, the traditional symbol of German sovereignty, is surrounded on the sides, the twelve stars of the European Union, the name of the state `BUNDESREPUBLIK DEUTSCHLAND`, the year of issue, the letter `J` of the Hamburg workshop and the face value `10 EURO`. Next to the face value is inscribed `SILBER 625` (silver 625‰) so as not to confuse this coin with the cupronickel version.
