| Reverse description | The reverse presents an innovative typographic design in which the names of the European Union member states and key dates of accession are arranged in concentric circular text bands radiating outward from a central vortex. At the center, the legend SCHUMANPLAN EG 1950 references the Schuman Plan, followed by successive rings naming the founding six members (1952), the 1973 and 1981 enlargements, the 1986–1995 accessions, and the 2004 enlargement cohort. The outer legend ERWEITERUNG DER EUROPÄISCHEN UNION curves around the full circumference, and the year 2004 is prominently displayed at the lower center of the field. |
