| Obverse description | The obverse features the celebrated Semeuse (Sower) effigy after the iconic design by Louis-Oscar Roty, depicting a striding allegorical female figure in flowing robes and wearing a Phrygian-style helmet, scattering seeds as she strides to the left across a stylized landscape. The design is set against a background evoking the euro banknote motif, with horizontal lines and vertical architectural elements to the right, and a ring of twelve five-pointed stars encircling the composition along the rim. The republican monogram RF appears in the central field to the right of the figure, flanked by the split date 20 and 18 on either side. The overall design pays homage to the classic Roty Semeuse that has appeared on French coinage since 1897, here reinterpreted in the context of the modern euro commemorative series. |
