Reverse description Enlarged reproduction of the reverse of the medieval Dinero of Alfonso VIII of Castile, minted at Toledo, depicting a mounted horseman in profile facing right, holding a lance in one hand and a palm frond in the other, set within a beaded border. The rider is rendered in the characteristic flat, stylized Romanesque manner typical of 12th-century Castilian coinage. The partial legend TOLE, referencing the Toledo mint, appears in the field. The entire composition faithfully replicates the iconography of the original medieval prototype at monumental scale.
