Obverse description At center, the royal monogram of Charles II the Bald as it appeared on his denarius coinage is displayed prominently in the field. To the lower right, the face value '10 EURO' is inscribed, with the French Republican mark 'RF' positioned above it to the right. The regnal dates '840' and '877', denoting the monarch's reign over the Kingdom of France, appear to the upper left. The letters 'R K S L' complete the inscriptions, rendered in Latin script in a style evoking Carolingian manuscript tradition.
