| Reverse description | The central field presents a detailed architectural depiction of the elaborate carved stone escutcheon adorning the facade of the Auberge d'Italie in Valletta, set within a rounded arched doorway framed by rusticated stonework. The ornate heraldic cartouche, richly decorated with Baroque sculptural elements, is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished background. A ring of twelve five-pointed stars encircles the inner design in the European tradition. The numeral 10 appears at the top of the legend ring, with EURO inscribed at the base, and the inscription AUBERGE D'ITALIE arcs along the left side of the border. |
