| Additional information |
Part of the Monnaie de Paris's long-running Astérix series, this issue draws on the comic albums that have sold over 380 million copies since René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo launched the series in 1959. The "voyage" theme references the recurring narrative device in which Astérix and Obélix leave Gaul entirely — used across multiple albums to satirize foreign cultures, a format that made the series a vehicle for pointed French social commentary throughout the Cold War decades.
The .333 silver billon composition places this firmly in the collector-circulation tier the Monnaie de Paris uses to keep face-value issues accessible. It is not investment silver.
