| Additional information |
Issued as part of Greece's long-running ancient Greek culture commemorative series, this coin marks the 2,500th anniversary of the Battle of Salamis, at which Aeschylus himself fought as a hoplite in 480 BC. He later referenced that battle — not his plays — in the epitaph he reportedly composed for himself.
