Reverse description The reverse faithfully replicates the design of an original 8 Reales macuquina of Felipe III struck at the Cagliari mint in 1611, presented within a beaded circular border. The central field displays a quartered royal shield bearing the arms of Castile and León, surmounted by ornate scrollwork and a Maltese cross at the apex, the entire device enclosed by a double beaded ring. Flanking the shield are large ornamental figure-eight numerals (denoting the eight-real value) and decorative volutes in the characteristic cob-coin style. The surrounding legend reads ARAGONVM * REX * 1611+, identifying Philip III as King of Aragon and recording the original issue date, all executed with a deliberately archaic, hammered-coin aesthetic rendered in proof finish.
