Obverse description The obverse displays the Maltese coat of arms at centre, featuring a quartered shield bearing the George Cross and vertical stripes, surmounted by a mural crown with five towers and flanked by an olive branch to the left and a palm branch to the right. A scroll beneath the shield bears the legend REPUBBLIKA TA' MALTA in raised relief. The country name MALTA appears to the left along the inner border and the date 2020 to the right, both in large incuse lettering. Twelve five-pointed stars encircle the design within the outer rim, evoking the European Union motif.

Reverse description The reverse features a powerful three-quarter facing portrait bust of Ludwig van Beethoven, his characteristically wild and voluminous hair rendered in high relief, his gaze intense and directed slightly to the left. Beneath the portrait, a section of musical manuscript score is depicted in fine detail across the lower field, evoking the composer's creative legacy. The denomination 10 EURO appears to the right of the bust in two lines. The legend 250TH ANNIVERSARY curves along the left rim and LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN along the upper right rim. The composer's life dates 1770-1827 are inscribed at the bottom of the field, and the engraver's initials NGB appear to the lower left of the portrait.
