| Obverse description | The obverse features a highly polished concave field dominated by a large curved inscription in italic script, forming an arc around the upper and lower portions of the design — a verse by Portuguese poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen: 'Esta é a madrugada que eu esperava', taken from her work 'O Nome das Coisas'. At the centre of the field, a small stylised carnation motif — emblematic of the Carnation Revolution — is rendered in relief. The dates '25.04.1974' and '25.04.2024' appear to the left, flanking the inscription 'PORTUGAL', while the denomination '10 €' and mint name 'CASA DA MOEDA' appear at the upper left. The designer's name 'Des. Henrique Cayatte' is inscribed along the lower right inner border. |
