Obverse description Left-facing effigy of King Albert II, designed by Jan Alfons Keustermans, occupies the central field. The royal monogram 'A II' appears to the left of the portrait, while the year of issue is inscribed below the bust, flanked on either side by the mint's privy marks. Twelve stars of the European Union are arranged along the rim, and the country initial 'BE' appears adjacent to the date.

Reverse description The reverse, designed by Luc Luycx, features a stylized map of the European Union with the fifteen member states highlighted, positioned to the left of the denomination. Six fine lines traverse the background of the globe-like map, symbolizing European unity.
