| Reverse description | The reverse displays the common European design for the 10 euro cent denomination, featuring a stylised map of the European Union to the left of the face value numeral. Twelve vertical stars flank the design, symbolising the unity of the European nations. The map employs a non-geographical representation in which visible spaces separate the borders of individual member states. The face value '10 EURO CENT' is inscribed to the right of the map in Latin script. The engraver's initials 'LL' (Luc Luycx) appear adjacent to the value numeral. |

| Additional information |
Italy's euro coins launched in 2002 alongside the single currency's physical introduction, but the "1st map" reverse — depicting the EU members as a fragmented cluster of nations rather than a unified bloc — was phased out after 2007 when all eurozone members standardized to a new common-side design showing a more geographically complete Europe. The change was mandated EU-wide, not an Italian decision.
