Reverse description The reverse presents an intricate bimetallic composition drawing directly from the tessellation and metamorphosis artwork of M.C. Escher. The gold-toned central disc depicts a surreal transformation scene with interlocking birds and fish motifs morphing across the field, a hallmark of Escher's graphic style. To the right, a detailed engraved portrait of Escher himself is visible in the silver outer ring, rendered in fine line work. Additional Escher-inspired motifs including fish, birds, and abstract forms populate the surrounding silver ring area. The inscription 'M.C.ESCHER' and the artist's life dates '1898 - 1972' appear in the lower central field.
