Obverse description Central device depicts the colonial coat of arms of Portuguese Timor, featuring the Portuguese armillary sphere overlaid with the Portuguese royal shield, surmounted by a mural crown with five towers above five smaller escutcheons. The legend TIMOR arcs across the upper field, while the denomination 10$00 is inscribed in the lower field. Small floral ornaments appear symmetrically in the left and right fields. The design is framed by a beaded border running along the coin's periphery.

Reverse description Central device depicts the Portuguese coat of arms superimposed upon an armillary sphere, the whole set at the centre of the Cross of the Order of Christ, whose four broad arms extend to the inner border. The circular legend REPUBLICA PORTUGUESA runs along the upper and lateral periphery, with the date 1964 flanked by two dot stops positioned in the lower field. A beaded border frames the entire composition.
