| Obverse description | Armored and draped bust of Sigismund III Vasa facing right, wearing an elaborate jeweled crown and a wide ruff collar rendered in fine detail. The king's bearded effigy is depicted in high relief with richly engraved armored pauldrons and decorative regalia visible at the truncation. A circular Latin legend runs along the toothed border, identifying the monarch as King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania. The portrait displays the characteristically precise Renaissance craftsmanship associated with the Vilnius mint.
