| Obverse description | Full-length frontal effigy of Maximilian III, Archduke of Austria and Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, depicted standing in elaborate ceremonial armor and a richly draped mantle, wearing an imperial crown. He holds a sword upright in his right hand and a scepter or orb in his left. To his left stands a heraldic lion atop a decorative base, and to his right appears the Teutonic Order's quartered coat of arms. The circular Latin legend surrounds the central figure, reading MAX:DG:ARCH:AVST:DVX BVR:MAG:PRVSS:ADMI, denoting his full titulature as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Administrator of Prussia. |
