Obverse description Laureate and armored bust of Emperor Matthias I facing right, depicted in high relief with detailed engraving of his cuirass, ruff collar, and mantle. The effigy occupies the central field, rendered in the robust late Renaissance style characteristic of early 17th-century Habsburg coinage. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the field by a beaded inner border, reading MATTHIAS D G R I S A GER HVNG BOHE REX, proclaiming his titles as King of Germany, Hungary, and Bohemia.
